Not Unexpected, Here in SC

This sort of judicial BS is totally expected here in SC. I bet you $10 if it didn’t stem from a gay hate crime that the sentence would have been significantly higher. An article noting this in The State (link here) fails to focus on the fact that the assailant was assaulting the victim because he was gay should show be proof enough that they don’t view it as anything other than a simple assault down here. Now if the assailant screamed the N-word right before assaulting the victim, then it’d be a huge deal. Double standard.
