So, I decided that on 01 May, I would start working out in the free gym we have at work. Then I modified it to be 02 May, because I was off on the 1st, and I’m entirely not motivated/too lazy to drive there (all 7 miles) on a day off just to exercise. I decided to do 15 minutes on the elliptical, being lower impact and I fooled with it on a break a week or so ago, it looked simple. It wasn’t bad at all, but merely an indication of how out of shape I am. My plan is do it as often as possible, at least every day I work (except Mondays, when I have class) or am otherwise unavailable. If I do it only on work nights, and discounting that I have class on Mondays, I would only do it 7 of every 14 days, and I feel that I should do it more like 10-12 of every 14. Maybe too much, but I want to try it. I plan on doing the elliptical mostly, until I can do it for about 30-45 minutes easily, and then move on to other things. I do not plan on weights or anything, just some cardio and stuff like that I guess.
Why, you may ask? I’ve never been one to work out. I was in the gym on the AFB maybe 20 times in the six years I was active duty and stationed at CAFB. When I got out I worked for Comcast as an installer…was a physical job, and I liked most of it, but the scheduling blew. Then I got involved in dispatch. 12 hours of nothing. I don’t think that I eat any worse than I did before, but I think the problem is that I no longer exercise or do anything to burn off what I do eat. So, I’ve added about 10-15lbs since I got out of the Air Force in 2003. Unfortunately, none of this went where it needed (as in, evenly), so there’s a spot I’d like to see go away. I never was muscular or ‘fit’ - just average, and I’d prefer to be back to that. Anyways. That’s all about that.
