I H8 Stupidity.

I found an article  linked from  CNN this morning about a man who discovered that his GA license plate could be interpreted incorrectly.   Apparently, in GA older vehicles are eligible to be issued ˜hobby automotive ™ plates, which start, appropriately with the letters H and A.   The driver in the article apparently was issued HA8-JWZ.   Yes, that ™s what it said.   The driver apparently was oblivious, which is certainly plausible as most people don ™t look to their license plates for anything like that.  The drive duly contacted the state DMV to get a new plate (makes sense) and then ¦ his preacher (doesn ™t make sense).   The preacher then contacted a Rabbi somewhere, who then contacted the Anti-Defamation League. Ridiculous.  What ever happened to just calling the DMV and asking for a new plate?   Or contacting your legislator to bring the matter to their attention?   Noooo not in America, everything must be made a huge deal.

Bill Nigut, Southeast regional director of the Anti-Defamation League, said in a statement, “The plate may have been created without the intention of spreading an anti-Semitic message, but unfortunately, it did just that. We’re glad the ADL was able to help pull the license plate out of circulation, and we especially thank Lt. Governor Casey Cagle’s office, which moved quickly to get the state to act after we contacted him.” He added, “Allowing such tags encourages a climate of intolerance and hostility that is simply unacceptable.”

I get the impression that they are implying that this randomly generated license plate was out spreading hate and discontent.   And then the final statement is stupid because they also imply, IMHO that they were doing it intentionally.   Someone should explain that a machine probably just stamps out the plates in sequence and they get shoved in a box and mailed to DMVs or drivers with no real human interaction.   Do they really think that someone somewhere is thinking up funny combinations for the (non-personalized) plates and mailing them out randomly?  I ˜H8 STPDT ™ !
