Whoosh.

By Chris | November 15, 2007

I’ve not written in a while…because nothing noteworthy is happening.  I think I’m already in that portion of the year (as fall/winter as it gets in SC?) where it’s just plodding through the days doing what needs to be done.  At work someone mentioned next week was Thanksgiving.  I totally lose track of what holiday season or whatnot is approaching because the weather here is so mild.  This time of year it’s ridiculously warm for November.  Doesn’t seem like Thanksgiving is around the corner when there are still leaves on the trees and flowers are still out.  The centiweed grass is turning brown though.  I hate centipede grass.  Ugly yellowy green in the summer and shit brown in the winter.

I finally found an inexpensive printer stand for the 67-pound behemoth.  Now that the deskhog has been removed from my desk I have room for the Epson R380 photo inkjet that I bought recently and my Dell laptop, which I never use because it’s crappy.  When I think about it I realize I bought it in 2001 so it’s totally acceptable I guess that it’s cruddy slow.  It’s nice having a ridiculous amount of desk space (it’s an L-shaped glass desk).

I started an online course this week via ERAU.  Hopefully this will go well, and I’ll be able to do these online courses to start banging out the 87 more credits I need to get the BS finished.  And I mean BS both ways.

I finally made an appointment with a dentist next Monday.  The last time I was in a dentist’s chair was June or July of 2003.  Slightly overdue.  Like most people I didn’t worry about it until I started getting some tooth pain when I ate something super sweet (chocolate, etc) or drank something really cold (and also sweet).  It took something like that to make me get off my ass and finally do it.  I know it’s a cavity, there’s not much else of an explanation as to what it might be.  I have only ever had one cavity in my life before, and it was due to the braces I had when I was a kid. When they put the (anchor?) ones on my back molars it must have caught some debris and a cavity developed.  Oh well.  Hopefully they’ll not decide they need to yank my wisdom teeth.  Now that I have a dentist thing going I’ll be able to keep the whole six-month checkup/cleaning thing going.  Thank goodness for dental insurance.

I washed the truck today in the blustery weather.  I had planned on it yesterday but my post-triple-work-day laziness kicked in and I did nothing productive until after dark, and even then it was only getting a new lightbulb at Lowe’s and then a (overpriced) USB cord for the printer (since it’s further away on its new stand).  When I saw it was cloudy this morning I had resigned myself to not doing it…but then it got sunny so I figured I should.  I must have ran over something in the last week because there was black sticky gunk all over the side of my pretty white truck.  It started to ooze down the paint so I needed to get it off of it, lest there be some permanent discoloration.  I love a white vehicle, but when you get something like that on it, it looks like ass.
