Whoa!

Checking prices to fly from Charleston (KCHS) to Allentown, PA (KABE) is $200 roundtrip.  Up to Business Class or First Class and it’s $1000.  $800 is a little drastic, no?  I mean…seriously.   Only reason I was considering flying is because fuel to drive up there would cost about the same.  850 miles, at about 22MPG (I speed) at $2.65/gal = $102.00.  Double that for the return trip: $204.00.  Figure in the food I’d have to eat on the way and the un-fun 12 hour drive…and it’s a steal.

    The best bargain we ever found online was an $85 round trip to Chicago. Middle of the week but being retired has its perks.

    You can’t stay home for that small amount!

    Well, it WAS January in the Windy City but we got to see Buddy Guy at his club on Wabash and took some excellent photos from atop the Hancock Building.

    From the Hancock you can photograph the Sears Tower but the Hancock has a bar at the top and there’s no fee to ride the elevator.

    Heard some other Blues bands and stopped to have a burrito “as large as your head.”

    I ALWAYS shop around for airfares!

    $85 is practically free! I am going to tinker with the dates and see what I come up with, but Travelocity was showing only a dollar or two fluctuation on either side of a Tue-Fri trip. I can’t handle much longer at home anyways. Gets a little dull!
