Fire!
By Chris | August 22, 2007
We had a trailer fire tonight - and it was a save I might add. Dispatched as a structure fire, no information (as is expected from Central dispatch) other than that everyone was out of the residence and that there was a vehicle parked next to the residence (not particularly useful information, but info nonetheless). Upon arrival we found (was it lost?) a double wide mobile home with heavy smoke inside. Engine 23 was first in and used a handline (not a booster line like CFD) and put the fire out shortly upon arrival. Second in was myself and another person on Engine 21. Third and fourth were Engine 42 from C&B Fire Dept and our own Engine 24, respectively. Was a good knockdown, the interior has some smoke damage but otherwise the fire damage is contained mostly to the kitchen. The resident tossed a lit cigarette into a trashcan when she went to check on a sleeping child and found the can in flames when she returned.
And tonight was going to be my first night in a while asleep before midnight..haha guess again! Sleepy time now!
