Yuck

Summer in SC sneaks up on you, it teases you…nice, airy warm spring days…moderate humidity. You can tell it’s warm, but not unbearably so. Then…WHAM! Humidity, heat and….just general grossness. I felt like I had to cut myself a path to the car it was so muggy out. Today on my way to Arby’s off Hwy 78 for lunch, the automatic A/C in the TrailBlazer never dropped off. It usually runs at Mach 2 and then slows down as it approaches the preset temp (which is usually 78 degrees). The OAT was 97 degrees according to the truck (sensor is in the front of the grill, and was reading it at about 65 MPH), which I believe to be pretty accurate.
Last night we got our first donated thermal imager from Bullard. It’s very impressive. We met a few of the
representatives from the company, and when they heard about Brandon’s efforts to get us a grant for one, and that the FD was accepting donations to further his caused, they stated that it was something he knew automatically what he wanted to do, no questions. I can’t remember the guy’s name, but he said he went to the VP of the company, and suggested that they donate one, and that the VP immediately said yes, without hesitation. The unit that we received has a small memorial stamp/label with Brandon and Mike’s name on it. The representative said that everyone in the factory wanted something to do with the unit, and that more hands were probably involved in the donated unit than we would know. The graphic arts department of Bullard made a large card and all the employees at the factory signed it and it was also presented to us. Bullard also gave us a non-functioning display model identical (except for the non-functioning part) to the other one so that we would have one for display. The company is going to come back in a few weeks for some live training with fire, so we know how to operate it. I was pretty impressed with it, some very cool technology. Our unit looks slightly different than the one pictured, there’s button on the top of ours, and some different graphics, and also the memorial label.
