Wow. Double Whammy & Glimmer of Hope
In case you didn’t think that SC was ass backwards to begin with… the legislature is now backing the teaching of ‘elective’ bible classes in schools and also the governor vetoed replacing old school buses. Ridiculous. It’s things like this that make me hate the fact more than 70% of my property taxes go to the schools. It’s appalling that a) that the legislature would be willing to use public money to teach religion in school and b) that anyone would want this state, with one of the worst education systems in the nation, teaching their children anything about religion. It’s gross abuse of the state to use public dollars to offer a class, elective or not, based on religion – especially when one considers that they could spend the money on making the educational system not suck. This is the bible belt, what else to be expected? Hopefully, with any luck, a suit will be brought and SC will lose in the U.S. Supreme Court.
There is a glimmer of hope, however – Dorchester County is enforcing some new laws against business owners that hire illegals. Unfortunately their enforcement will rely on complaints instead of actual proactive enforcement. The immigration ‘reform’ (I use that term loosely, as all it does is legalize illegals…what reform is that?) on the Federal level has been in the news lately as well. I think it’s a slap in the face to all those who came here legally and put up with all the hoops they had to jump through. It’s a joke what they waste their time on up in DC.
This is the anniversary of D-Day. I hope everyone can take a moment to reflect on it and the sacrifices that so many made in order to fend off tyranny so long long ago.
I’m tired. Maybe I’ll have a more positive outlook when I wake up this afternoon.
