New Color Scheme
Not for my site! For the police cars! The city got several new police cars, 2008 Chevy Impalas. The first one came back from whoever does the install (RCC, I think) and here’s a shot:

Edit: Discovered that this new scheme has yet to be approved by the powers that be. I’m hoping it makes the grade!
Maybe it’s just the fact that it’s change or maybe it’s because they now look like the city of Hanahan, either way, I don’t care for it.
Hrmmm. They look similar. Hanahan has a fatter blue stripe, and a big fat ‘POLICE’ on the front doors, but they both do have the blue. (pic @ http://www.hanahanpolice.com/images/cark9.jpg)
Our thoughts in the PD were that ‘The Goose has got to go…!’ I didn’t mind the green stripe, but I didn’t care for the goose. Made us look like mall security or code enforcement, so I’m glad to see our patch on the side as well as the more visible lettering. The lettering on the trunk lid is also larger. Overall I think it gives the cars a more bold appearance. I hope they also leave the hubcaps off and leave the police center caps on.
Funny note – we might be able to sneak up people since they’re so used to the green stripe, they won’t think it’s GCPD…hehe. I understand they’ll be replacing the old scheme by attrition, so the green stripe will be around for quite some time.
I just wish they were Crown Victorias, not Impalas, personally.
Yeah, I like the CVPI more too, it looks more ‘cop-carish’ – while the Impala looks more sleek, it doesn’t have the same appeal. The power of the almighty dollar is what drives the switch to Impalas.
