The switch…
By Chris | April 27, 2007
Trying to stay up late to prepare for a switch from dayshift to nightshift is not fun. I forced myself to sloth around and sleep until noonish so I could stay up later tonight, figuring any later than 2200 would be better when the time comes on Monday evening. Afterwards I went to Lowe’s and picked up some stuff and did a little work outside. Planted some flowers by the mailbox and also caged the tomatoes in the backyard before they get too heavy and hurt themselves. In hindsight….shoulda caged them suckers when I first planted them, but I think I got it done without injuring them.
I received a comment on one of my earlier posts, from 31 Jan 07 (I’d link, but I’m too lazy right now). I’d have to say that that may be the greatest time lapse in a comment. According the site stats they got to that post via the LowCountry Blogroll (link to the right). While the commenter’s opinion was different than mine, I still appreciate the comment. I know of many people that delete comments that differ with their point of view, however I felt it would morally be wrong. After all, I posted my thoughts, now they can post theirs. In this case, I almost just posted a thank you (which I don’t always do), but I felt like I wanted to explain why I said one of things I did in the original post (though I don’t have to).
My comment policy is that so long as there it’s in good spirit and is not a personal attack, then I’ll approve it. The initial comment of a new ‘member’ always has to be manually approved by me, however once the initial one is approved, the subsequent ones will be automatically approved, though I’m notified and can reverse that, should I choose to do so (and I haven’t done that to any of them).
I realize that some of my opinions are not always the nicest way to put things, in fact, many of them could be interpreted as mean or uncaring. Well, the nature of the blog-beast is that well…it’s my blog and I’ll bitch if I want to. I usually post whatever I want here, however there’s been a couple times when I either lock up a post or just rewrite it - in the name of self preservation. I don’t want what I write here to endanger the almighty paycheck…hehe.
I guess it’s prom weekend here. I’m still amazed how early it comes here, though I suppose that is pretty much dependent on the dates of the school year itself. I know it’s prom weekend (or a facsimile) because the some of the teenagers next door were dressed up, and the other neighbor had asked, and I heard the answer. Unfortunately, the older of the kids next door has several of his buddies over and they were out until nearly 2200 dicking around in the street hooting and hollering. They were shooting at each other with a water gun or something of some sort. I’m not totally sure, but it was powered by some form of compressed gas based on the noise they made. They do have paintball guns next door, but I’m thinking they weren’t shooting those at themselves because that’d leave some serious injuries, and I’d have seen the flying paintballs when they were goofing off earlier. Either way, they packed in their noise before 2230, which was the time I figured I’d call Central and ask if they could have a deputy just patrol the street, and maybe the presence of a patrol car would get them inside. Yeah I was young once and did stupid shit too, but my parents woulda kicked my ass if I was doing that and they were being so loud I could hear them inside the house, despite watching a loud television show.
I’ve another post to follow, however it’s on a subject I felt should be its own post instead of piggybacking on my ramblings.
