Non-Stroke

By Chris | April 26, 2007

I went to post a post tonight, like right now, and I was getting persistent database errors for WordPress.  On a whim, I tried my Gallery2 (the photos), which uses the same SQL database and found an error there as well.  So I logged on to the Dreamhost webserver management console and accidentally went to the wrong part of the site.  I clicked on the link where I thought my blog files were (even though I was there earlier) and it was empty.  E-M-P-T-Y.  I almost had a stroke.  Fortunately I went back to the root and realized I had mis-clicked, and in the proper directory lay all my nice little WordPress files.  Of course, that’s not what the initial problem was.  I tried to log on to the MySQL and it failed as well.  I guess it cannot authenticate a userID/password when it’s down (Duh…lol).  I reported the problem and 12 minutes later I was able to log on.  So who the hell knows WTF was wrong with it.  It appears to be working again, albeit slowly, me thinks…but then… WordPress has always seemed to run a little slow for me.

Went and saw The Fray at the North Chuck Coliseum tonight.  It was a much better venue than the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, although it lacked the personality that HOB has.  HOB is decorated, has all that kitsche crap on the walls and has its own motif.  The NoChas Coliseum has….concrete and plastic chairs, and some Stingrays ambiance…lol.  BUT, it was still much better.  The lighting setup was much much better and they did some different things with the lighting they’ve not done at the previous two shows I’ve seen at HOB.  Aside from all that it wasn’t bad, I especially liked that there were seats, because after about 2-3 hours of standing at HOB my lower back hurts like a bitch.  Only problem at the Coliseum was the getting up every time someone in the row felt the need to get another beverage.  Speaking of - I question the ID checking at the booze selling counter, because there were quite a few people that looked like they were 12 and carting a beverage around.  Interesting.

Also of note were the lazy inattentive ‘Event Staff’ who failed to enforce the little rules like ‘no cameras’ as there were enough camera flashes to induce epilepsy if one was susceptible.  Had I known it wouldn’t have been enforced I might have brought my camera.  Also at times you could see smoke coming from the crowd, and it’s a no smoking venue.  The ’staff’ seemed more inclined to chat with the little sluts females that were crooning around them.  There was also lots of HS aged kids there, and they were semi-annoying, but not too bad.

Aqualung opened, and they played for maybe 45 minutes, starting at 1900 sharpish.  Then The Fray took the stage around 2020 or so, and they finished up around 2115.  Played a new song, which we had heard in January at the HOB in MB, and also played an older song that Isaac (lead singer) stated they sang when they played the Windjammer on IOP a couple years ago.   They did a cover or two, mixed in with their songs.  Altogether a pretty good show.  Was glad I went.  Parking wasn’t bad (aside from the $4 cost) and it wasn’t difficult to get in or out of there.

I believe I am off to bed.  Tomorrow I will have some pictures of the garden that I took the other day, I was having trouble getting a program to work that embeds the pictures into WordPress.  If anyone is interested, they’re in the ‘Great Outdoors’ section of my Photo Gallery.  They’re posted there, but haven’t been carted over here yet.  Maybe sometime tomorrow I will do something productive.  Maybe call the USAFR recruiter one of these days.
