Amendment #1: Vote No!
Wow, I feel like a post-whore today. Three posts and the day is barely half over! I’m sure everyone has heard about Amendment #1 that will be up to the voters on 07 Nov 2006. I could go into detail about it, but Uncle Zoloft has posted a really good run down of the specifics. It breaks it down quite nicely without all that legalese and stuff that makes you think it’s in a language other than English. The what it means part towards the bottom puts it into perspective.
My thoughts on this are that it’s going to pass, but I’m going to vote against it. We all know that SC is way too conservative and bibleish to even consider anything that their beloved church thinks isn’t right. I believe it’s BS to vote discrimination into the state’s constitution. However you feel about it is fine, but it should not be made into legislation like that. You keep your religious beliefs out of the law, and I’ll keep mine out of it as well. (sigh). It’s a sad sad day when religion plays an all too evident role in the operation of this state, this country. America was founded by those escaping religious persecution and now we’re doing it to our own people…
