Cypress Gardens Trip

Justin and I went on a trip to Cypress Gardens, between Goose Creek and Moncks Corner on…appropriately…Cypress Gardens Road.   It’s one of those lowcountry treasures that I’ve never been to, but am very glad to have gone today – the weather was absolutely perfect for it!   I put some of the pictures here, but you can view all 35 of the pictures are in this album I made on my photo gallery site:   Cypress Gardens 2006-10-09.

It’s $10 to get in (AAA and Military can save $1), but you get access to everything there, so I felt it was well worth it.   You can take either a guided boat ride (which we did, they leave on the hour, every hour), or you can wander out there yourself.   Our guide explained some things such as the history of the gardens as well as some things about the wildlife that went floating past us in the still water.   The staff is very helpful and very nice, and the grounds are nicely maintained, without interfering with the natural look of the area.   There are tons of azaleas and other flowering plants throughout the park, you can see them when walking on the trails.   I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in the spring, it could probably rival Summerville’s Azalea Park.   Anyways, they say pictures are worth a thousand words, so here are a few:

The last one is one of my favorite pictures.   The green leaves of tiny plants on the water make it look pretty cool.   Our guide said that there are usually alligators, but today for some reason we didn’t see any.   There was one that dove underwater as our boat neared ,so we didn’t spot it.   Anyways, Cypress Gardens was fun, and definitely something that I think everyone in Charleston should see at least once!
