Monday….mondays, why do they suck (ass)
By Chris | February 24, 2004
Hahahah

Ahh… how I hate B-shift on Monday. It seemed benign at first, getting to sleep in late, I was even in a good enough mood to show up early so I could get brakes on Unit 132. Unfortunately, Sonny's was like, “Oh, it'll be a while before we even get to it.” Which would mean a van swap. For those of you who've never peered into the back of a cable truck.. that's a lot of shit. And in a van swap, ya gotta take your shit and put it into some derelict loaner van. And you always invariably forget some off piece of equipment you never need….except on the day you leave it in your van. I've had to do van swaps two or three times so far. It kinda sucks, but it's so nice to have your van back when it's finished. It sounds stupid, but you get used to all its little quirks. I know every little noise that 132 makes, I know the weird handling characteristics, and I know where all my shit is in the back. She's my baby! (Stupid, yeah). So needless to say, I decided to just bring the truck back this AM and get new brakes (and I think it needs two new batteries as well) and wait on it. I am going to bring some magazines to read in the waiting room to bide the time. But yesterday, I was on the road by 1120, on the way to the AFB to do a job then to James Island (called Wonder Island, because you wonder how fucked up it's going to be until you get there). I almost hate being on the AFB… I miss being in the AF so much… but only to a point. It was nice to be a part of something that was generally working towards a greater good/cause. I've decided I am going to see about getting my Reserve ID card so I can go back on base more often. I see my old hangar from when I was in MXS and my old squadron building and it reminds me of the good times I had… but then I see the hua's in their desert cammies and it reminds me of all the shitty times I had when I was sent overseas for two weeks, and only flew once. Don't get me started on that one.
After the AFB job, off to JI/WA. I hate JI/WA. Too much traffic. The day was progressing nicely, and I was sitting in the Sonic Drive-Thru getting a fat pill when they tried to send me to a job clear across WA at 1645 to make a 1-5 window. Yeah, not gonna happen. I told her there was no way I could make it in time, that I was on JI and that traffic this time of day was disgusting (they know this, but try to get me to make it anyways). They need not know I was waiting on my #4 combo and intended to eat it before I did any more work that evening. They pawned it off on someone else. I ended up getting stuck at some job in Seaside Plantation and was there until like 8PM cause the subscriber had an odd wiring set up that took some finagling to get the HD box to work. Then onto my last job, which ended at 10-ish. The customer had to pay his COD by phone, but at 10PM, all the heifers upstairs haul ass so there was no one to do it. And oddly enough, 1-800-COMCAST couldn't do it either. Stupid if you ask me. So now I have to see if they can run his CC information this AM before I head to get the van fixed. I may just forget it and do it later today.. whatever. So I got home at like 2245. How fucked is that? I was supposed to get off around 8. And I have to work at 0800 today…less than 8 hours sleep and Chris gets cranky… arrrgh. I couldn't sleep last night.. this odd cold/coughing/allergies thing is just killing me for sleep. Oh well. A cup a joe and here I am. Off to the showers to do another day at Comcast…
Ciao.
